[ITA]Nel 1988/89 l'allora parroco di S.S.Abbondio Don. Giuseppe Marini, nel bel mezzo di una passeggiata lungo il sentiero del Grottone, divergendo verso la strada che conduce sino alla Grotta, rimase affascinato dalla bellezza di quel santuario naturale immerso nel silenzio della natura incontaminata, luogo che durante la Grande Guerra offrì riparo dai bombardamenti a tutti gli abitanti di Petrara e non solo; Pensò fin da subito di rendere quel posto più speciale di quanto in realtà fosse già. Una statua in resina, le cui spese di acquisto furono coperte dallo stesso parroco e dalla comunità di fedeli, venne dunque posta sotto la Grotta a protezione della vallata. Quattro anni più tardi però (1992) uno dei tanti pellegrinaggi riservò una sorpresa inattesa, per quanto drammatica; La statua era bruciata completamente, per cause probabilmente non dolose ma accidentali (forse un cero ribaltatosi per il vento). Il Co.Va.Gi. decise così, a spese proprie, di acquistare una nuova statua e di collocarla nello stesso posto qualche metro più in là (non più in resina ma in gesso, materiale meno infiammabile). La statua della S. Madre veglia ormai sulla vallata da molti anni e i suoi abitanti non hanno mai destato di mostrarvi riconoscenza. Il posto, noto come "Madonna del Grottone", conta un numero considerevole di fedeli, provenienti dai posti più disparati, che vanno a farvi visita. Il Comitato di Petrara con la benevolenza del parroco organizza tutti gli anni, l'ultima Domenica di luglio, una processione e Santa Messa all'interno della Grotta; Al termine il Co.Va.Gi. offre un piccolo ristoro a tutti i partecipanti. Recentemente sono state completate 2 importanti opere di "arricchimento" che rendono il percorso lungo il sentiero ancor più caratteristico: la "Via Crucis" in pietra (2007) e la "staccionata" in legno (2012).

The Co.Va.Gi. he decided to buy a new statue at his own expense and place it in the same place a few meters further (no more resin but plaster, less flammable material). The S. Madre statue has been on the valley for many years now, and its inhabitants have never woken to show you gratitude. The place, known as "Madonna del Grottone", counts a considerable number of faithful coming from the most disparate places that visit you. The Petrara Committee with the benevolence of the pastor organizes all the years, the last Sunday of July, a procession and Holy Mass inside the Grotto; At the end of Co.Va.Gi. offers a small refreshment to all participants. Recently, two important "enrichment" works have been completed, making the path along the path even more distinctive: the "Via Crucis" in stone (2007) and the "wooden fence" (2012).
