It is important to know that this is not a easy task. Working to the shelter and walking back to your car will involve a full day. It will be approximately 6.5km of walking to the shelter, that is close to GC74770.
No litter is to be expected, and the main aim is to do some path clearing. Previously, these mountain paths were kept open by individuals hired by Sanparks. In recent years, there are no funds for that anymore. If the people who makes use of these paths does'nt step up, it will soon be a very difficult task to hike here.
A machete / Panga is advisable. Strong clippers can also help on the lower fynbos slopes.
Wear sturdy shoes. Carry food and at least 2 liters of water with you, as it is unlikely to find water before you reach the shelter.
Do not just show up. Log your will attend, in order for me to make arrangements with parking.
The option exist to sleep over at the shelter, but it is better to take a tent than to expect the shelter to be the accomodation. The shelter is basic, and not 100% wind or rain proof.
