Located along a paved hiking trail, this site overlooks what used to be Lake Red Bluff. The diversion dam, finished in 1964, was lowered every May-Sep to divert water into the canal system and back-filling the slough. The IHBA Nitro Nationals boat drags took place here on Memorial day weekend until the dam was decommisioned in 2013 to protect migrating fish. The boat drags in Red Bluff were known as the "richest & fastest' in the world, covering the hydro 1/4 mile at over 200mph. Directly across is the new pumping station that replaced the dam operation.
