Geocache Description:

This is a NOT A CHALLENGE Cache. The Cache is NOT at the Posted Coordinates but you MUST compute the puzzle to get the accurate coords. Due to Groundspeak restrictions, the challenge part of this cache has been made optional - and the cache is now a puzzle cache instead.

This is a NOT challenge - if you want to see how your eathcaches stack up against the original subtype, you can use the checker. This cache is not going to be for all cachers - but you may want to get more earthcaches and try to find all of the subtypes anyways!

This is part of a series of challenge caches along Fairfax County's Cross County Trail.

To log this cache, you must have solve the puzzle to get the coords - OPTIONAL: see if you have found at least 1 cache for 15 of the 22 Earthcache Classification subtypes.
EarthCaches are all around the world and overseen by the Geological Society of America. Several of the cachers I have traveled with love EarthCaches and will go out of the way to grab one. All EarthCaches are organized by a classification system which was developed by EarthCache.org. For this cache, the checker will indicate the subtype for the EarthCaches you have found. If an Earthcache is not classified, please let me know where you think it fits. I know at the time of publishing a few of my Earthcache finds are not listed yet, but they have been classified and now have been added to the checker.

The Project-GC checker script will check your found Earthcaches to determine if you have found at least one cache in each of the 20 common and 2 rare Earthcache classifications. Some Earthcaches have not yet been classified. When this occurs, the user is presented with the details explaining the situation and a list of the caches they have found that are unclassified. I have set the number of matches to be 15 of the 22 subtypes to account for this factor.

4.5/3.5

Rules for the challenge caches in this series:
  1. As with all caches, the decision as to whether a log is valid rests solely with the cache owner.
  2. We have provided a verification tool. It might not be perfect and is therefore not the final authority (see #1).
  3. You may sign the log before completing the challenge. If you have do this, please use a "Write note" log to record your find and then a "Found it" log once you have completed the challenge.
  4. Your log does not need to contain enough information to prove you have met the challenge - that can be determined from the Project-GC checker. I suggest you use the verification checker on this cache page to prove you have met the challenge. Please do not provide the entire output of the checker as it can sometimes be quite verbose.
  5. I may double-check your qualifications with the Project-GC checker after you have logged your find.
  6. Any finds that do not qualify for this challenge or lack a signature on logsheet will be deleted without notice.

ABOUT THE CROSS COUNTY TRAIL:

This cache is not on the trail but is easy to access from the the Cross County Trail (CCT). There are over 50 caches along the 40 mile trail. This is no power trail as many of the hides are different in type, size, difficulty and terrain. If you want to know where to park or get food or a bathroom along the trail you need to check out CCT (CCT - Welcome to the Cross County Trail). It is loaded with valuable information including maps of the entire CCT.

Permission for the placement of this cache has been given by the Fairfax County Park Authority

Night caching not allowed.
