Kiddie Kache Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Dragon Boy: For some reason they have blocked off the road to my cache, it could still be walked but it was supposed to have easy access for small kids, and now it doesn't, which kind of ruins it. My dad and I were going to replace the missing cache but since this happened we are just shutting it down. Sorry.

Geocache Description:

From the intersection of Highways NM4 and NM485 near Jemez Springs, take NM485 until it turns into Forest Road 376. Follow FR376 to just short of the intersection with FR652 (you'll see a fence & open gate with a fire notice on it). Turn right (northeast) onto rough road at N35 44.733 W106 46.699 cross stream and park.

This was our 1st cache (of 4) hidden by me, Alex, and my Dad (Captain Swoop), Mom (Pinkadelic) and sister Stacy. See our website of (visit link) for details on all 4 caches together, plus hint pictures. Website should be up after Aug 11, 2002

I picked this spot to make geocaching fun for your kids and grandkids, too. Not only is the river fun to wade and fish in, but there is a huge swimming hole hidden here - about 20 feet wide and 3-4 feet deep, fed by a small waterfall, lots of shade around, too. Also, there are lots of spots to camp nearby. You can't get much more fun for a kid on a summer day! Except maybe hunting for my treasure cache.

Be careful driving down off the Forest Road toward the river - you need a high clearance vehicle to get down some sections of the spur road, and especially if you want to drive across the stream (a 4 wheel drive is a good idea). You can walk the short distance as a second choice.

The original contents of my geocache are:

"Return-a-ball" game (kind of like a yoyo-ball)
1 Yu'-Gi-Oh! Card (Jirai Gumo)
1 Pokemon Card (Arcanine)
Chuck-E-Cheese game token
Sunglasses (kid sized)
Girl's Cosmetic Kit
Gargoyle toy action figure

The cache is in a purple plastic storage box, hidden next to the creek on the road-side bank (southwest-side), upstream from the swimming hole about 40 - 50 paces. You will see a small pile of rocks, with the catch inside, visible from the top.

Good Luck,
"Dragon Boy" Alex
