Nearly all my geocaches are on hiking trails in Almaden Quicksilver, Calero, and Santa Teresa parks. My hiking, however, is pretty limited right now. Alas, I put an "urban" cache out today.
I grabbed my cane (ugh) and started walking. As I sauntered (picture Charlie Chaplin) up Santa Teresa Blvd, I came across an ideal place to put my cache. On a previous walk, I scouted it out and then came back today as I needed to prepare one. :-)
This is an easy find as true to my hide style. There is no parking on Santa Teresa, but there’s a side street named Santa Mesa Dr. Park there and walk a hop, skip, and a jump. This area can be very busy with some foot traffic early in the morning and somewhere between 2-4 pm. It’s a cinch after 9:00 AM and after 4:00 PM.....or even night with a flashlight.
The cache container itself is situated such that it can be removed from it holder and opened. PLEASE be gentle and set back so it is secure. The cache holder can be left in place. Just remove the cache itself. Stealth is a good thing as well.
As an aside, no need to leave the sidewalk. I used 1.5 terrain because unless two cachers are there, one to hand it to the other in a wheelchair, it would not be reachable in a sitting position. :(
Congrats to Masawit for FTF!
