Reading Common Historic District Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

scarletsapphire: This cache had a short and happy life. However, it has become clear that its placement is going to be problematic during the New England winter, making it difficult to stay dry without constant maintenance. After trying a couple of different containers, it's time to say goodbye.

Geocache Description:

This can be a busy area during the day, although muggles don't usually congregate right near GZ. Use stealth and wait for the muggles to pass, and you should be OK. Please make sure that the container is closed securely before replacing the cache. Placed with permission.

This cache is located in the Reading Common Historic District, which has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1985. This historic district includes the Town Common and Laurel Hill Cemetery (the town’s original burying ground), both of which date back to 1737, as well as Old South United Methodist Church and Reading Town Hall, a Georgian Revival style building dating to the early 20th century. The Old South steeple, located across the Common from GZ, is the quintessential New England clock tower and Reading’s most iconic structure.
