A bit of history about Northwood...
Northwood can trace its origins back to when Wood County's nineteenth commonwealth, Ross Township, was enacted on April 18, 1874. It was not until September 8, 1962 that the entire area of Ross Township would become incorporated into the Village of Northwood. The Ross Township News editor, Larry Brough, suggested the name "Northwood" because the village was located in the most northwestern part of Wood County. The Village of Northwood officially became the City of Northwood on January 1, 1982.
