Payson Boulders Traditional Cache
PaukenAC: This one truly is the end of an era. This is one of the two remaining Allyn Moore caches. Allyn was the earliest payson cacher and placed some wonderful locations. It was all about the hike and the views.
When Allyn left payson we agreed to maintain the caches as long as the containers lasted. 17 years is pretty good. Thank Allyn for placing this cache!!!

This cache is hidden near the Boulders trail east of Payson, AZ. This should be a very good family hike; the trail is suitable for hikers and mountain bikers.
The Boulders Trail starts at the east end of Granite Dells Road in Payson, near Fox Farm. Just go east from Safeway’s parking lot about four miles, where you should see a small sign marking the Boulders trailhead. This is a Good, All-weather road!
Start out by crossing a large, sandy ravine south of the sign. Then, take the Republican (right) fork at the top of the ravine bank; let the Democrats and ATV’ers go left, or wherever they go. The total trail is about a four mile long loop, but the cache is only about one mile away from the trailhead. I have attached a photo to show the sign, the ravine and the Right turn.
I tried to pick a cache spot that exemplifies the name “Boulders”, but the find should not be very hard, as I like the hiking here better than the searching.. Most important, HAVE FUN on this very pleasant Boulders Trail!
Update: cache adopted 1/11/12.
