Geocache Description:

This Highway was the first road brought into Libby. Hand built with pick and shovel, by Chinese or Italian labor, depending on which story you may hear. The geocache is located about a hundred yards from the pull out at the sign marking the beginning of the trail. The trail up to Shannon Lake starts at the other end of this trail.

Be sure to bring a pencil.

Trail Length: 2.3 miles

This trail is part of the old highway between Libby and Troy. There are many small springs and cascades, and spectacular views of the Kootenai River. The old highway passes through the closed environment of softwoods and mosses and the open environment of wildflowers and alders.
