Untergrübelplatte
Über die Bedeutung und Funktion solcher Schalen wurden schon tausende Seiten mit den unterschiedlichsten Hypothesen geschrieben. Im Vinschgau und in den Nebentälern befinden sich hunderte von Schalensteinen. Es gibt darunter sehr kleine, kaum mehr sichtbare aber auch so große wie Schädeldecken, Schalensteine sind vielleicht kultische Plätze, vielleicht markante Position für Wanderer, vielleicht dadurch entstanden, daß zu kultischen oder medizinischen Zwecken der Stein geschabt wurde.

Sul significato e sulla funzione delle copelle sono state scritte migliaia di pagine a sostegno delle più diverse ipotesi. In val Venosta e nelle convalli si trovano centinaia di massi ricoperti da coppelle: da quelle grandi come un ditale a quelle che hanno le dimensioni di un cranio. Le coppelle sono forse luoghi di culto,oppure servivano come punti di riferimento, oppure sono legate a riferimenti astrologici o a pratiche medico religiose. Esse si trovano in molte regioni del mondo e spaziano da neolitico ai giorni nostri.

No-one has yet been able to explain exactly the function or the reason why ancient man hollowed out indentations in the rock face known as "Schalensteine", although thousand of pages have been written on this subject. In the Vinschgau and neighbouring vallys hundreds of "Schalensteine" can be seen. They vary in size from minute hollows to hollows the size a human cranicum. Some possible theories of their use are that they were places of worship, guiding points for travellers or possibly that the hollowing out of the stone face was for ritualistic or medical purposes.
