Das Weihnachtsmärchen „Drei Haselnüsse für Aschenbrödel“ für unterwegs

Geschichtlicher Hintergrund zum Film:

• Drei Haselnüsse für Aschenbrödel (auch: Drei Nüsse für Aschenbrödel) ist ein Märchenfilm aus der Kooperation ČSSR/DDR nach dem gleichnamigen Märchen von Božena Němcová sowie Grimms Aschenputtel (in der Version von 1819). Der Film entstand 1973 unter der Regie von Václav Vorlíček und gilt als einer der bekanntesten Märchenfilme sowie inzwischen als Kultfilm und ist seit Jahren fester Bestandteil im Weihnachtsprogramm der öffentlich-rechtlichen Sender.
• Der Film hatte in der ČSSR am 1. November 1973 Kinopremiere, in der DDR im März 1974 und in der BRD am 19. Dezember 1974. Am 26. Dezember 1975 wurde er erstmals im westdeutschen Fernsehen gezeigt. Seitdem wird er von Fernsehsendern in Tschechien, Deutschland, Norwegen und der Schweiz regelmäßig in der Weihnachtszeit ausgestrahlt.
• Der Film entstand nach Motiven des gleichnamigen Märchens von Božena Němcová, das das Grimmsche Motiv Aschenputtel variiert, indem es drei Haselnüsse als Wunschinstrumente integriert – ein Motiv, das in den über 400 bekannten Varianten des Märchens auf mehreren Kontinenten seit der Antike weit verbreitet ist.
• Berühmt durch den Film wurden die Schauspielerin Libuše Šafránková und der Schauspieler Pavel Trávníček. Beide wurden mehr oder weniger durch Zufall ausgewählt: Regisseur Václav Vorlíček erinnerte sich nach einem Casting mit über 2.000 Bewerberinnen an ein Mädchen, dass er Jahre zuvor in einem Fernsehfilm gesehen hatte: Libuše Šafránková. Pavel Trávníček entdeckte er, als dieser in einem Abschlussfilm für einen Freund mitspielte, dessen Prüfer Václav Vorlíček war.
• Der Film sollte eigentlich im Sommer spielen; die DEFA drängte aber darauf, im Winter zu drehen, da ihre Arbeiter im Sommer schon ausgelastet waren.

Historical background of the movie:

• Three Hazelnuts for Aschenbrödel (or: Three nuts for Aschenbrödel) is a fairytale movie made by a cooperation of the former Czechoslovakia/German Democratic Republic, inspired by Božena Němcová’s fairytale and Brother Grimm’s 1819 version of cinderella. The movie was filmed in 1973 by the director Václav Vorlíček and is one of the most popular fairytale movies as well as a classic film which can be seen several times on public TV during christmas season.
• In the former Czecheslovakia, the movie was shown for the first time in cinemas on November 1, 1973, in the GDR in March 1974 and in the Federal Republic of Germany on December 19, 1974. Almost one year later, on December 26, 1975, the movie could be seen on west-german TV for the first time. Since then, it is broadcasted on TV channels in Czech Republic, Germany, Norway and Switzerland regularly during christmas season.
• The movie is inspired by motives of the same titled tale written by Božena Němcová which is a variation of Grimms‘ tale integrating three hazelnuts as wishing objects – a motiv which can be found in more than 400 versions of the story across the continents since antiquity.
• The actress Libuše Šafránková as well as the actor Pavel Trávníček became famous due to the movie. Both were chosen more or less by accident: after a casting with more than 2000 candidates, director Václav Vorlíček was reminded of a girl he saw on television years ago: Libuše Šafránková. He found Pavel Trávníček in a graduation movie that he checked as an examiner.
• The movie was supposed to be shot in summer; however, the DEFA maintained to do it in winter, as their workers were already busy during summer time.
