Zelena potkova naziv je za slijed od sedam zagrebačkih trgova i Botanički vrt koji čine zelenu oazu u središtu grada. Njezino estetsko oblikovanje ostvareno je prožimanjem hortikulture, arhitekture i skulpture. Tim monumentalnim urbanističkim planom iz druge polovine 19. stoljeća postavljen je temelj razvoja Zagreba kao modernoga europskog grada.
Green horseshoe is the name for a sequence of seven squares and the Botanical Garden that make the green oasis in the Zagreb city center. Its aesthetic design was accomplished through the interweaving of horticulture, architecture and sculpture. With this monumental urban plan from the second half of the 19th century, there were laid foundations of Zagreb as a modern European city.
Mjesta budućih trgova označena su već 1865. godine. Iako nije idejni autor kako se dugo vjerovalo, nesumnjivo najveći udio u ostvarenju tog plana imao je najvažniji zagrebački urbanist i arhitekt 19. stoljeća Milan Lenuci (1849.-1924.), pa se ovaj zeleni pojas u srcu grada često naziva i Lenucijeva potkova. The locations of future squares were marked already in 1865. Although he was not the one who came up with idea, as it was long believed, Milan Lenuci (1849-1924), the most important Zagrebian urban designer and architect of the 19th century, was undoubtedly the largest contributor to this plan, so this green belt in the heart of the city is often called Lenuci's Horseshoe.
