Improvements to the pond have been made to provide an ideal breeding ground for smooth Newts. Otters have been making a come back and the endangered Water Voles have benefitted from the newly created back water and reed bed.
Herons, Kingfishers, Chiff Chaffs, Long Tailed Tits and Goldcrests can all be spotted at the Reserve along with different species of damsel and dragonfly. Stroll along river and you will come to the very unusual Swift tower designed to provide an ideal home for Swift during the breeding season. It is also, we think, a fine sculpture in its own right.
The cache will hopefully appeal to all but especially young geocachers. My children always like to find a box of fun treasures. Bear in mind that when wandering off the main paths there are some nettles and after rain it can get quite muddy. If you enjoy wildlife and a good squelch around in mud this is a great place to visit.
The cache has been placed with the kind permission of Cambridge City Council.
***Congratulations Joseph365 FTFC*** Recent storms led to the loss of a number of trees including the one with Logan's Hideaway. A new cache has been placed in a tree nearby which the nice lady from the council feels will be safe from tree work and storms. The new location is a little more exposed so please replace as found with lots of sticks and woodland matter to camouflage. The coordinates have changed a little to N 52° 12.745' E 0° 8.445'
