Geocache Description - 6. Anne plays house

The Story

TwoTrees is a blackened ruin. Anne discovers that the cellars in the ruin are in good condition and makes house there.

The Cache

This cache is placed near to an old farmhouse which could be the one described in the book before it burned down, as it also has two trees, one either side of it. It is not possible to go into the old farmhouse as it is securely shut up and used for other purposes.

A return walk from the suggested parking to the cache is less than 3 miles.

Points of Interest

Nearby to the West of Two Trees is another wayside cross, Siward's or Nun's cross, which is well worth a visit whilst in the area.

Not far away to the North East are the notorious Foxtor Mires which were used as the inspiration for Grimpen Mire by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in his story “The Hound of the Baskervilles”. You are warned not to try to cross them unless you have experience of such. The Ordnance Survey map plots a bridleway straight through the middle of it but its exact position is not to be relied upon as it changes from year to year.
