Geocache Description:

Safe water Transportation is vital to California because Californians use our river water for many purposes, including agriculture, recreation and stormwater management. The Sacramento River is the largest in California and is 400 miles long. It provides water to 19 counties and is protected by over 1600 miles of levees.

Over ⅓ of the US vegetables and ⅔ of US fruits are grown in California. In the state of California, we produce 400 different crops. California is the US’s largest farming state. In all, California has over 80,500 farms and ranches. Of all the water used in California, 39% of the water used is for farming.  California farms over 9 million acres of crops. In 2015, California crops accounted for $47 billion in sales.
This Cache is part of a project done by the Matsuyama elementary school's robotics team to bring attention to how water is used and transported through out state.  They hope to educate the public. And also by getting people out on levees, problems are discovered and fixed earlier.
