The Cremona Gold & Silver Centre is the local hall for seniors where many activities occur to improve and enhance the quality of life for senior citizens, such meetings, potluck dinners, birthday teas, choir singing, crib nights, bridge, carpet or indoor lawn bowling, shuffleboard, special events and many other functions. It also houses a museum in the basement with much history to be discovered.
But before its construction in 1988, this land was once the home for the Woodmen of Alberta’s lodge, a men’s club from 1931 to the late 80’s. The land was donated to the seniors committee who were looking to find a location to build a new hall for seniors.
Due to the decreasing number of members joining the Woodmen of Alberta and the increasing cost of taxes to maintain the lodge, the club agreed to donate the land to the senior committee at the simple request of providing them with a room in the basement so they could continue to have their meetings. And with that agreement, the hall was built and the museum soon followed after construction was finished. Over time, the Woodmen of Alberta ended their club and they donated their room for the expanding museum.
The Cremona Gold & Silver Centre is a welcoming place for many seniors over 50 years of age, from various towns in the area, who want to find a safe and inviting place to meet and greet with others and to have some fun and good times.
