As the Southern Upland Way wends its way over the hill from Galashiels to Yair Bridge, it passes by a prominent cairn. You can see the cairn on the skyline for some way before you reach it if you're coming from Gala.
To the south of the cairn, and slightly uphill, is a stand of trees at the top of a hill. To call this a 'summit' might be stretching the point a tad. As far as I know, it doesn't have a name, but I've always found it quite an appealing place with grand views of the Eildons, the Three Brethren and further afield. It provides a place of shelter in winter weather and shade in summer. Well occasionally, anyway!
In fact, there used to be a cache here, but it has long since disappeared and been archived. I thought it'd be appropriate to place another one here. It can link in to others in the area or simply be done as a fine walk in its own right. Enjoy!
