This cache is on the track that connects the Mount Cooper summit in Whitireia Park, Titahi Bay with Whanake St just below it. The track used to skirt along the clifftop to Richard Street which was a far better walk but the fun police, in their infinite wisdom, decided to block the track. Annoyingly they have not actually created a replacement track to Whanake Street but just left you to find your own way across a steep grassy bank.
Getting there
One of the trailheads listed is in park from where you have to climb over Mount Cooper which is a short sharp climb. The other trailhead is at the end of Whanake Street. I haven't put a recommended parking waypoint there because the street is quite narrow but you can use your judgement and find somewhere sensible to park there if you wish. The 360° view from the summit is worth the small effort in going from the park trailhead.
Doing this at night is not recommended although it's not so much a problem now the cliff-edge route is blocked.
The cache
You are looking for a bison tube in a camouflaged hide. It does not have a pencil so remember to bring your own. Be extra careful once the log is in your hand as the wind can grab it and you'll never see it again!
