Geocache Description:

The whole of the Scottish Borders region contains a plethora of walking routes. Most of the towns produce booklets of walks in their own vicinity that are well worth getting hold of if you are a visitor and don’t know the area.

This cache can be taken during several walks from Innerleithen, although I will only mention a couple of possibilities here.

A very pleasant short loop walk can be had, starting and ending in Innerleithen, out by a surfaced path in the bed of a dismantled railway, and back through the small but lovely woods at Merrybrae. A longer option is to divert from the Peebles to Innerleithen public footpath at WP2.

For the loop walk, park at WP1 and cross the main A72 past the Traquair Arms Hotel, continuing down Traquair Road until a surfaced path leads off to the right, signposted to Peebles by the Tweed Valley Railway Path. Carry on along this path until WP2, where you turn right.

For the longer walk, start in Peebles following the A72 and turn right at a sign for the Tweed Valley Railway Path. Continue along the path, via Cardrona, until you come to WP2, where you turn left.

From here, the two options are the same.

Head uphill to cross the A72, continuing up a track until you come to a signpost pointing you back to Innerleithen. The path runs parallel to the A72, in the woods, until it hits the outskirts of Innerleithen. From there it is a short stroll in the houses, coming out right at the car park, WP1.

This cache is in the wooded part of the path.

The container has no pen and tweezers may be required, depending on how the log has been returned by the previous finder.

Please replace the container exactly as you find it.

Congratulations to firwood-johnny for such a quick FTF. Sorry about the co-ords f-j. They were all over the place when I set the cache. The west is an average of around 10 separate readings!
