NMVG (Northern Miami Valley Geocachers) meeting to be held at the Miami Valley Centre Mall, Food Court Area, 987 E. Ash Street, Piqua, Ohio. Meeting held from 11:00am-1:00pm on Saturday, November 18, 2017
What would a Pilgrim in 1621 have thought about Geocaching, as we know it today?
Perhaps their S.W.A.G. for the cache containers would have been Wampum beads? Wampum is a traditional shell bead of the Eastern Woodland Tribes of American Indians. It includes the white shell beads fashioned from the North Atlantic channeled whelk shell, and the white and purple beads made from the quahog or Western North Atlantic hard-shelled clam. The "First Thanksgiving" was celebrated by the Pilgrims after their first harvest in the New World in October 1621.
