Carreg Carn March Arthur (The Stone of the hoof of Arthur's Steed)
Local mythology has it that there was a stone here which bore the imprint of a hoof from King Arthur's horse. The imprint was allegedly created where Arthur and his horse landed, having jumped from the top of Moel Famau (about 3 miles away - impressive!)
The history of the stone was highlighted in 1763 following a dispute between neighbouring landowners over lead mining rights. There were a number of witnesses in the court case who stated that the stone was the historical boundary between Flintshire and Denbighshire, and a boundary stone and monument was erected on the spot adjudged by the Court to be the county boundary. These were relocated by Denbighshire County Council when the road was widened in 1974.
