This cache is a simple 1-stage multi which should take 10 to 15 minutes to complete. Fun and suitable to do with children. There is a nice playground right by the starting coordinates of this multi. This cache is part of the Church Micro Series... the largest series anywhere in the world! (by sadexploration, whom you should contact if you want to expand it → see bottom of description for more infos).
St Alban's Anglican Church is located within the same park near which you'll find St Michael and all Angels, another Anglican church (with another multi). It's a large majestic church from 1887, which reopened in 2014 but had been unused for 8 years. It features those pretty red bricks of the late 1800s which are typical for the buildings designed and errected for the 19th-century bourgeoisie in Bedford Park and Chiswick as a whole. The same kind of bricks you will find on other churches in the area (check for the Church Micro Series traditional and multi-caches in Chiswick, there should be quite a few!). Take a look inside if it's open, it's worth it.
At the coordinates of the multi, you won't find any cache but the clues needed to find the coords for the cache. You should face a green info board about this area of the larger 3-part park divided by the District Line (the area in which the church and yourself are right now is called Acton Green Common). Find the right side of the board to collect the info, i.e. the side with the map.
-
i) Find the large red circle on the map (showing what you can reach in a radius of 4-minute walk). How many times can you find the London logo for public transport (bus and underground station) WITHIN this circle? Let this number be A. Beware : this logo is displayed in 2 different types on the map (one smaller type for bus stops = white on red OR one larger type = orange and blue on white for tube stations)
-
ii) Find the most southern park on the map, whose name starts with T and is composed of two words. How many letters are there in the first word of the name of this park ? Let that number be F.
-
iii) Find the phone number displayed on the info board. It’s G2G 882E EGGG.
-
iv) A little market garden ground existed around Acton Green, although only 10a had been recorded in the 1H90s.
-
v) in D8B3, only C market gardens existed in the southern part of the parish, mostly near Acton Green.
The final coordinates are to be entered as follow: N 51° 2A.BCD W 000° 1E.FGH. You can check if you calculate the final GZ right by visiting geocheck.org using the link below. It's a very short walk to GZ.
