Geocache Description:

Four "drive-up" views of Vancouver, Burnaby, and beyond, followed by a short (bushwhack!) forested hike above Burrard Inlet. (*Contact by E-mail only*)

The posted coordinates are not the actual coordinates, but they are not too far from the physical cache. You will first need to go to the “Northview”, “Eastview”, “Southview” and “Westview” viewpoints which will enable you to assemble a four digit “Code Number” that you can use to determine the exact minutes of the co-ordinates for the physcial cache. These viewpoints can be driven to, and all fall within an area less than ½ a mile in diameter.

Four digit Code Number = ___ ___ ___ ___

Northview:   For the first digit go to: N 49 17.220 W 122 58.924 and answer this question:

What is the first digit on the fire hydrant ?

Eastview:      For the second digit go to: N 49 17.066 W 122 58.936 and answer this question:

Add together the digits of the four digit number on the sign and subtract 4

Southview:    For the third digit go to: N 49 17.176 W 122 59.090 and answer this question:

What is the fifth digit of the phone number you might call to STOP vandalism?

Westview:    For the fourth digit go to: N 49 17.209 W 122 59.426 and answer this question:

How many letters are in Mrs. Baldigara’s first name?

If you have answered these questions correctly you will now have the four digit Code Number. The Checksum for those is 23. Do the following calculations (you will want a calculator) for the minutes of the cache co-ordinates:

The minutes of latitude are:

Code Number divided by 211.93 (rounded to three decimal places)

N 49 __ __.__ __ __

The minutes of longitude are:

Code Number divided by 62.4 (rounded to three decimal places)

W 122 __ __.__ __ __

When you start your short hike for the actual cache, the posted cache description co-ordinates is a good place to start (at the end of Highfield Drive). All of the terrain is an easy "1" except for the last 60 metres or so which a short scramble up a steep wooded hillside. Hope you enjoy the Four “Capitol” Views!
