Welcome to the North Carolina Botanical Garden. This has been one my favorite places in the area to take a short hike. I hope you enjoy your visit here.
The NC Botanical Garden has a cultivated gardens area that is very nice to visit during their regular business hours, but they also have a series of "Piedmont Nature Trails," approximately 2 miles of wooded nature trails accessable from the same parking lot. Leashed dogs are welcome on the nature trails (but not within the fenced/gated areas of the garden), and the trails are open daily, dawn to dusk. Please respect this beautiful community resource and pack your trash out with you. Permission has been granted to place a cache here, but the garden staff/volunteers do not know anything about the geocaches located here, so please don't bother them. There is a parking lot for the gardens, please park here to access the gardens and the nature trails.
This cache is accessible from the Oak Hickory Trail. Take the time to walk the entire trail, if you'd like, it's very nice here. Or if you'd like a bit more challenge (and access to some of the other caches located around here), continue your hike up the hill and follow the Oak Hickory Trail, it's the longest loop trail available here.
You are looking for an ammo box in the woods, in a typical hiding spot, please re-hide cache. Great cache for trading swag, good for kids, nice walk in the woods. Enjoy!
