Geocache Description:

This is a series of twenty five (25) caches placed to highlight the Acadian Heritage in Colchester County. Visit the actual sites of ACADIAN Villages of Cobequid. Enjoy vistas little altered from the days when Acadian families dyked the marshes and harvested salt hay. Captain  Abijah Willard with an Acadian guide, map maker Thomas Lewis &100 New England troops traveled through this area. His 1755 diary is one of the best information sources for these communities.

19. Village Bois-Brulé   Thomas Miller wrote in 1873 about the first mill built after the new settlers arrived in 1760: “The French had some kind of a Mill at the same place”. For more than a century people referred to this area as French Mills.

On passing through here, and Village Le Bourque to the west, Willard writes on August 19, 1755, “marcht olong the South side of the Bay about 7 mise (miles) through several fine vileges where they had Large orchards and fine aples and good Indian Corn for the season   but Last night their was such a frost as spilte their Indian Corn & tobacco”.

In what year did a diary discribe;" passing through several fine villages with large orchards", Call this year X ; divide X by 1000 and call this  Y'. The final co-ordinates for the cache are  N 45° 19.545' + Y'  and  W 063° 19.181 - Y'
