I have been coming to Grandma's home (in the photo) since I was about 18 years of age in 1978. That admittedly was a long time ago, almost 40 years ago! I got my licence in 1978 and after that made regular trips with the family to come down here from Auckland and see Grandma for a few hours. It was always my job to make Grandma a pot of tea when we arrived, the kettle had to boil for several minutes (no automatic switch off back then) before she would allow me to pour the water into the teapot! Then I had to put her knitted tea cosy upon the teapot to 'keep it warm' and we weren't allowed to go near the teapot for a whole 5 minutes until it 'brewed' properly and as a result we all got used to very strong tea!! This a custom I have come to know and still do until this very day. I also was left her beloved teapot and cosy when she passed away which I use often..
Grandma passed away a long time ago now in 1996, but I still entertain fond memories when I pass by here, especially if I'm with my family. Today was no different... I have just done my 5000th cache on 'Kaimai Tops' GC186EF so as is my custom, I place a cache for each of my milestones. The cache is an easy one, you shouldn't have any problems, just a simple bison. Enjoy.
