UPDATED AND REACTIVATED 9/2019
This cache is part of my Harry Potter-themed caches, with more to follow. Also on the list is my first cache ever, Whomping Willow.
Something odd is happening outside Shelburne Falls. Don't believe me? I don't blame you--people don't just vanish into thin air. But I saw it. I've seen them coming a mile away; they're not hard to spot: they all wear robes, pointy hats--like witches, except this is definitely the 21st century last I checked. They even have wands, for Pete's sake. I have to find out what's up.
It has something to do with the tree. I just know it. They go around the front of the tree, by the stone benches, and they just--vanish. They're gone. I can't explain it. There's got to be more going on. Maybe an old underground... thing, I don't know! Maybe something stashed in the branches. The bird feeder, maybe?
Now I sound like the strange one...
That's it. I have to know. A report on my findings to follow.
From the (very fictitious) blog of a suspicious Muggle, who was immediately obliviated after using the portkey to accidentally teleport himself into the stands of the local Quidditch team, the Finchburg Finches.
Portkeys are one of the fundamental tools used by wizards and witches. Anyone who cannot Apparate, or who must travel by daylight without use of inappropriate methods (i.e. dragons, broomsticks, or Thestrals) will find the creation and subsequent use of a portkey to their utmost advantage. A portkey should be an everyday object, one which will NOT catch the attention of the local Muggles.
Cache should be a simple park and grab with a nice view in spring, summer, and fall. Located in the beautiful Madeline McKinnon Field, the area was donated by the local neighbors to Franklin Land Trust and the community has ensured that Madeline's Meadow will be maintained as the working hayfield that Madeline McKinnon's family has stewarded for over 80 years. The area is open and welcoming to picknickers, bird watchers, photographers--and now, geocachers.
Access from Route 2 via Shelburne Center Rd! Maybe stop at the library while you visit.
