Geocache Description:


PORCUPINE MOUNTAINS

Porcupine Mountains wilderness state park. Ontonagon, Michigan. Closest Town: Silver City, Michigan



***** This is a night cache *****

The posted cords for this cache are very close to a place where you can find ample parking. At the posted coordinates you will find yourself at the corner of a chain link fence that faces South and East, this will be your starting point. Follow the East facing side of the fence heading at a bearing of 360 º. When you reach the far northerly end of this section of fence travel just a bit further to the largest of trees along the woods line. There you will see an orange fire tack where the real journey begins. You will need to follow these single fire tacks through the woods until you come across a set of 2. When you arrive at the pair of tacks you will be very close to the end of your trek. Take a look around until you spot a set of 3 fire tacks nearby. This will be the location of the loot that you seek. Most fire tacks are at a level of 6-7 feet above ground, the final 3 are a bit lower but should still be above the depth of the average snow pack. Please beware of trip hazards while you walk through the woods as there are many.
