Agli inizi della sua carriera usava il soprannome di Rossifumi in onore di uno dei suoi idoli della 500: Norick Abe soprannominato Norifumi. In seguito adotterà il soprannome di Valentinik in onore di Paperinik il supereroe Disney impersonato da Paperino a sottolineare le sue imprese funamboliche.
Dopo l'approdo in 500/MotoGP è appunto diventato per tutti THE DOCTOR (Il Dottore) per mettere in risalto le sue qualità sopraffine nel mettere appunto la moto e per la sua abilità di guida. Nonostante i diversi passaggi di categoria lui ha sempre avuto le conoscenze tecniche e la sensibilità giusta per lo sviluppo e la messa a punto di ogni tipo di moto che ha guidato trovandone subito i difetti e la cura (proprio come un dottore col paziente) per portare al massimo la potenzialità del mezzo e raggiungere tutti i risultati.
Tutti si chiedono come Valentino Rossi sia diventato il motociclista più amato di sempre. Probabilmente tutto incominciò a partire dal 1997 quando esplode definitivamente il fenomeno Rossi sul piano mediatico. Certo senz' altro grazie alle sue imprese spettacolari ma anche alla capacità innata di saper conquistare il pubblico, ad esempio con i suoi incredibili modi di festeggiare ogni successo. Travestimenti, prese in giro, scherzi che entrano nel mondo delle corse. In tutti i circuiti gli appassionati aspettano l'ennesima "trovata" del pilota di Tavullia, che a seconda delle circostanze, si trasforma in Robin Hood, Superman, o gladiatore.

Valentino Rossi is an Italian motorcycle racer. Born in Urbino and raised in the small village of TAVULLIA, in the province of Pesaro; is one of the most titled riders of motorcycling, thanks to his nine world titles (five of which won consecutively between 2001 and 2005). He is the only rider to date in the history of the Motomondiale to have won the World Championship in four different classes: 125, 250, 500 and MotoGP.
In the beginning of his career he used the nickname of Rossifumi in honor of one of his class 500 idols: Norick Abe nicknamed Norifumi. Later on Valentino Rossi adopted the nickname of Valentinik, after the Disney superhero Paperinik played by Donald, to emphasize his spectacular racing.
After reaching the 500 / MotoGP class, he was named THE DOCTOR , to highlight its overwhelming qualities in precisely tuning his motorbike and his driving skills. Along his career in various racing classes he always had the technical knowledge and the right sensibility to improve and to development all the motorcycles he drove, finding defects and fixing them immediately (just like a doctor with the patient) to maximize the potential of his motorbike and achieving the best possible results.
