WRW #16: Riverside
The cache, a small, screw-capped, camo-taped sample tube, is hidden in a horizontal log close to the river’s edge.
To reach the cache location: either a) from the east – continue along the Dales Way from GC7EJAH WRW #15: Crack Willow or b) from the west - park at N 53 55.927 W 1 51.611 off the east side of Old Ilkley Road and follow the Dales Way for some 170m towards the cache area. In both cases, pick up a smaller riverside trail off the larger Dales Way footpath and then walk along a mossy trunk for the last few metres to reach GZ – some 6m off the riverside trail.
Although the hide location should be above river flood levels, reaching it may be more challenging at high flow periods . . . so take care not to get wet! On the day of placing the cache the river level at Ilkley Flow Gauge Station was 0.9m and the river was flowing quite strongly – but the cache location was easily reachable on dry land.
