At the posted cords ( GZ ), you will find a Trail Map.(there are two, both the same but use the one to the left) Get the North info here. Use only the second digits
A. Creamy Whip
B. North Cherry on Top minus one
C. North Cherry Loop plus one
West. Theres a bench at the top of the hill about 80' from the trailhead. Troop Number minus eighteen
You will be hiking on the Falls Trail. Near GZ is a large Quercus shumardii aka Shumard Oak right on the trail. A keen eye can spot the cache from leaning on this tree. The cache is waist high in a young Quercus mulenbergii aka Chinkapin Oak about 25' away.
This is not related to the Ape Cache Icon, nor do you have to do anything a Ape does to get the smiley, although a banana is a good source of potassium and a good trail snack for a day hiker.But if you want to act like an ape and say who who who or something to that degree, Please post a video on the OKIC Facebook page so we all can have a laugh. The hike to the cache and back will be a little over a half mile. Note, There is an Asian Bittersweet vine on the host tree. The Ape is supposed to be tangled up in the vine. If he hangs free, he is very visable from the trail. You shouldn't need to move him to get to the log.
This area of the park is subject to Deer Hunting in the Fall & Winter. There will be a sign at Parking stating closure dates. Each area of the park is different and you should not assume that one part is open making this part open as well. I will post pictures each year of the signs so there should be no confusion. If you insist on going in during a closed time, Ohio State Law requires a percentage of HIGH VISABLE ORANGE on your outer layer ( think its 40% ) if you will be in the woods during hunting season. Construction GREEN does not count! Please heed this warning, it just might keep your body free of Arrows.
