As you hike these trails, you will encounter many different trees and plants. In this area, you will encounter groves of rhododendrons (Rhododendron maximum sometimes called Rosebay Rhododendron). These are normally considered shrubs, but in this area, they are small to medium trees. They are evergreens with leathery leaves. They have large showy flowers in late spring.
