This cache is on the Green Chain Walk through Avery Hill Park. Nothing complicated, but a cache big enough for swaps and one that children will enjoy finding. The park is a lovely space with many footpaths, cycle paths, a great playground and a cafe. Some areas have been left to go wild, and other areas where people go wild playing rugby and football!
From the slope near the cache you have lovely views over the surrounding fields and woodlands - you would not know you are in a London borough. 5 minutes' walk from the cache, near the car park, there is a cafe and the Greenwich University Mansion House site with Winter Gardens, which are open to the public most days. The Winter Gardens are a listed building which is in danger of closure due to renovation costs, so visit while you can.
Greenwich Council says: "The winter garden was part of a splendid mansion owned by the Victorian entrepreneur John Thomas North. North made his fortune by exporting fertiliser from Chile. The London County Council acquired the site in July 1902. Currently, the University of Greenwich maintains the winter garden."
This cache is accessible by wheelchair or with a pushchair, but you need to be able to get out of the chair to grab it.
