Soon after moving to Missouri from Vermont in 2007, we visited the Pony Express Museum in St. Joseph, Missouri and my interest in the pony express was sparked. Though the Pony Express only lasted 18 months, the trek these brave young men carrying mail 2,000 miles in just ten days was a significant event in our American History.
Oh, the places that geocaching has taken me.... Stopping for a cache in front of the museum at the location Jesse James and deciding to visit the museum. These were things you really didn't learn in new England, so I knew so little. Learning more about the pony express and traveling through Kansas, Nebraska, and Colorado stopping at Pony Express stations and monuments along the way has been a very interesting journey. There is a pony express challenge in St. Joseph (GC1PRHM). There are only 10 caches needed – 8 different states makes it just a bit challenging…. I will need just three more states after this California trip.
Please bring along an interesting fact to share with the group about the Pony Express.
Please post your "Will Attend" so I can let the restaurant know.
UPDATE 11/11/2017: I called the restaurant last night to confirm reservation and was told that there is a "One Ticket" policy for parties over 8 - which means one credit card can be used and there is an automatic 18% gratuity added to the bill. Please bring cash to pay for anything you order. This seemed a little crazy for me because I have never heard of this before. They told me they do have an ATM there, so I hope this is not a problem for anyone. Looking forward to meeting everyone and taking a unique group pic on the webcam.
