Bobbin Head
Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park
This cache will take you on an enjoyable stroll along a pathway, boardwalk and track. As it winds through a thick watery forest of river and grey mangroves, expect a changing world here as Cockle Creek laps just below your feet, or recedes to reveal the thousands of mangrove “peg” roots peeping through the rich muddy ooze. Continue along the track through a mini-canyon of sandstone to a lookout surrounded by eucalypt forest. Follow in the footsteps of the original inhabitants, the Guringai People, to a rock engraving site, featuring a mythical figure and several axe grinding grooves.
As this is in a National Park, you will need to pay an entry fee of $12 per car, (unless you have a NPWS sticker attached to your vehicle). If a ranger is not on duty to collect your money at either the North Turramurra or the Mount Colah entrances, you will need to obtain a parking ticket from one of the machines at Bobbin Head. The park is open sunrise to sunset daily.
