Samostan sv. Ane
Prvi redovniki so prišli v mesto že kmalu po smrti ustanovitelja sv. Frančiška Asiškega. Leta 1229 je samostan obiskal sv. Anton Padovanski in tukaj ustanovil prvo skupnost bratov. Leta 1264, se je zgradila nova cerkev, ker je bila stara v slabem stanju. 17. septembra 1492 sta koprski plemič Antonio Almerigotto in njegova soproga Chiara podarila patru Bernardinu z Raba, zemljišče za gradnjo nove cerkve in samostana v Kopru. Cerkev in samostan so začeli graditi leta 1493 in dokončali 1513. V njem so poučevali teologijo in filozofijo. Cerkev je bila veliko manjša od današnje. Najprej je bila njena zavetnica sv. Marija Angelska, nato pa so cerkev posvetili Sv. Ani. 22. oktobra 1954 se je samostan nacionaliziral in v njem so uredili zapore. Frančiškane so potisnili v pomožne prostore na drugi strani cerkve. Po osamosvojitvi Slovenije je bil leta 1997 samostan frančiškanom vrnjen v last, v posest so ga vzeli leta 2004, ko so se zapori preselili v novo zgradbo. Frančiškani so leta 2005 pričeli z obnovo samostana. Leta 2008 so zaključili prvo fazo obnove samostana, ki je 50 let služil kot zapor. V samostanu so sedaj frančiškani, Študentski center Jadro, Koper in Središče Rotunda.
Monastery of St. Ana
The first monks came to Koper soon after death of the founder St. Franchisco Ashishki (Frančiško Asiški). In the year 1229, the monistary was visited by St Anton Padovanski who started the first comunity of brothers here. In the year 1264, a new church was built because the old one was in bad shape.
On september 17th 1492, a nobleman Antonio Almerigotto and his wife Chiara, gave father Bernardin from Rab, land to build a new curch and monistary in Koper.
They started building the curch and the monistary in 1493 and finnished it in 1513. There, they were teaching theology and philosophy. The church then, was much smaller, compared to today. The first patron was St Maria the angelic and then they dedicated it to St. Ana.
On 22th of october of 1954 the monistary got nacionalized and they built prison cells in it. They moved the Franciscans to auxiliary rooms on the other side of the church. In 1997 after Slovenia declared independence, the Franciscans gained full possesion of the monistary and in 2004, the prison cells moved into another building. In 2005, they started renovating the monistary and in 2008, the place that served as a prison for 50 years, fianlly got trough the first phase of renovation.
Now the monistary is home of the Franciscans, the student centre Jadro Koper and the Centre Rotunda.
The cache is somewhere in the wall surrounding the monistary. Watch out for the muggles, because there is a bar close by and they can get nosy. Be careful when placing the cache back to it’s place.
