「有田泉山陶石」は有田焼の原料となった石です。陶石は陶土と違い、白く、堅く、吸水性がありません。磁石(じせき)とも言います。
"The Arita Izumiyama Pottery Stone" is the stone which became the raw materials of the Arita ware making. It is white, firmly and does not have water absorptivity unlike potter's clay.
有田泉山陶石は流紋岩が頁岩に貫入した後、流紋岩自身が熱水変質を受けて形成した石英、セリサイト（絹雲母）等からなる岩石で、古くから磁器原料として利用されてきました。
有田泉山陶石は1616年に発見されてから採石が始まり、この石により日本で初めて磁器の焼成に成功したといわれています。しかし、長い間削り取られてきたためほとんどが掘り尽くされたこと、さらにはより上質な天草陶石が手に入るようになったことから採掘されなくなりました。
After a rhyolite penetrated it to shale, the Arita Izumiyama Pottery Stone is a rock consisting of quartz, the sericite (sericite) which rhyolite oneself received hydrothermal alteration. It has been used as porcelain raw materialsformed for a long time.
In 1616, the Arita Izumiyama Pottery Stone was discovered, and quarrying it begans. It is said that porcelain was originally produced in Japan. However, it was not mined now. because it was worked out, and better-quality Amakusa Pottery Stone came to be available.

At the goaf, you can see the outcrop of Pottery Stone aroud GZ. Is this sotne's color dark brown or yellow brown to the inside? Or is it only the surface of this stone ?

この陶石は何故こげ茶色or黄土色をしていると思いますか？陶石成分分析表を参考にしてあなたの考えを述べてください。
Why do you think that it's color is dark brown or yellow brown ? Please explain your thoughts to refer "Component analysis chart".
