Damaliscus pygargus dorcas
Description
Large sized antelope with destinctive sloped back. The hide is red brownish with a maroon glow. Both sexes has short ringed horns.
Size: 120cm at shoulder, 200cm in length, Horns 34cm
Weight: Males 140kg, females 110kg.
The Tsessebe is the fastest off all antelope in Africa. Capable of galloping over 90km/h!
Habitat
Grass and shrub lands. They live in small herds with females in a territory with males overlapping terratriums.
Food
Grazing on short grass.
