Springbok



Antidorcas marsupialis

A unique type gasel with a wide dark brown band on each side.

Both sexes has horns but the ram's horns are more sturdy.

They live in herds. In earlier years they were found in herds of more than a thousand strong.

They graze on grass in summer and leaves in winter.

It is South Africas national animal and the logo of the national rugby team.

Height: 75 cm.
Length: 120 cm
Horns: 35 cm
Weight: Males 40 kg, females 25-30 kg.
