Suikerbos (Sugar Bush)



Protea caffra

A low bushy tree with rough, nearly black bark. They grow in colonies on hilly outcrops. Leaves are singular, small longish, leather like, blue grey, arranged in bushes at the end of branches.

The flowers are long blooming and attract various birds, especially the red breast humming bird.

Height: Up to 6 m.
