Jethro Tull Traditional Cache
2caldbeck: This cache was hidden between a tree branch and the top of the garden wall (with the owners permission). Recently the winds caused the large tree to move and knocked down the wall. I am now very wary of geocachers damaging this newly built wall in their enthusiastic search (especially in light of the last logs) so am archiving this cache.

A cache located in a lovely situation near the village pond. This area can get very busy, so stealth may be required. The parish council and the owner of the adjacent property have given permission for the hide, but please be gentle and considerate when retrieving and replacing the cache. Not quite a drive by, but there is parking nearby and abundant parking around the village. Can be combined with the other caches in the area.
Caldbeck is one of the most beautiful and peaceful of all the Lakeland villages, it lies at the foot of the Northern Fells and just inside the Lake District National Park. The timeless character of the village has been preserved as a conservation area where ponies, sheep, cattle and even ducks roam freely. The village is named after the river (Cald Beck) on which it stands. This river and its tributaries provided the water for the important industrial development of the area in the 17th and 18th centuries - woollen mills, bobbin mills, corn mills, a paper mill and a brewery. The village still reflects this former industrial activity with many of the old mill buildings still in use. Caldbeck has lots of amenities and picturesque local walks of all standards; from easy strolls along the river side or around the village pond, to the more strenuous nearby mountains of High Pike or Carrock Fell. This Geocache was placed with the kind permission of the ‘Caldbeck and Hesket Newmarket Parish Council’ and the owner of the adjacent property. The container unscrews to open. I am a massive rock music fan and aim to give clues to each of my caches with reference to one of my favourite bands. Besides being an 18th century agricultural inventor/innovator; Jethro Tull are an eccentric English rock band who formed in 1967. Initially playing blues rock, the band developed its sound to incorporate elements of British folk music and hard rock to forge a progressive rock sound. Performing live from Madison Garden Square Garden in 1978, Jethro Tull became the first rock group to appear live from America on British TV.
