Geocache Description:

When I was a kid, I was disappointed if the featured Stooge short for that day was one in which Shemp Howard was the third stooge. But now I have a new found respect for the man, stepping in as he did after the debilitating stroke of his brother Curly.

What I have found out about the Shemp era of The Three Stooges is that all of the shorts produced in the 1940s were remade in the 1950's using lots of stock footage from previous shorts. It was a cost cutting measure used back in the day that mostly fooled all of us young viewers. This short, Booty And The Beast, was recycled from another short, Hold That Lion!, with what I estimate is around 50 percent of the same footage.

So in this new series, I now give you a simple traditional cache (GC7EW3F Curly Howard: Hold That Lion! (It's A Shemp!)), and this companion mystery cache, for which you can determine the coordinates using information from clips of both shorts.

First of all, from Wikipedia:

Booty and the Beast is the 145th short film released by Columbia Pictures in 1953 starring American slapstick comedy team The Three Stooges (Moe Howard, Larry Fine and Shemp Howard). The comedians released 190 short films for the studio between 1934 and 1959.

The Plot:

The Stooges inadvertently aid a safe-cracker (Kenneth MacDonald), who flees to Las Vegas with the stolen "booty." Realizing their error, the trio hop the train to Vegas to catch up with the thief, though not before accidentally freeing a lion from the baggage car. Eventually, the boys capture the nameless crook and retrieve the stolen money from him.

Trivia:

Booty and the Beast was filmed in May 1952. The second half of the film consists of footage recycled from Hold That Lion!, which includes the cameo appearance by Curly Howard, who died on January 18, 1952. The title of the film is a parody of the fairy tale Beauty And The Beast.

MacDonald's character in Hold That Lion was originally named Icabod Slipp: in Booty and the Beast, he is a nameless thug. Any references to Slipp are replaced with "He", "Him" or "that crook."

The cache is not at the posted coordinates

You will need to gather information from the clips in the cache descriptions for this cache and GC7EW3F Curly Howard: Hold That Lion! (It's A Shemp!).

Here is the clip from Booty And The Beast: Episode 145 Booty And The Beast Clip 1

The North coordinates are computed as follows:

From the clip in GC7EW3F Curly Howard: Hold That Lion! (It's A Shemp!)

N41 47.XXX

Divide the car number on which Slipp is booked by 2. From that number, subtract the hour that the train will depart.
Then subtract the hour of the current time. The result is the last three digits of the north coordinate (XXX).

The West coordinates are computed as follows:

From the clip in this cache:

W088 04.YYY

Who spells the place one takes one's car for service as G-A-R-A-J-E?

Moe - Use 94
Larry - Use 104
Shemp - Use 114

Multiply that result by the hour of the day this clip takes place in (This one is tricky!). The result is the last three digits of the west coordinate (YYY).
