WE SHALL NOT BE MOVED This is an easy walk from any of the off road car parks at Wentworth Falls Lake Reserve but I hope you will take the time to look at the sculptured rocks scattered around the park which has plenty of tables and benches , children’s play areas and a BBQ area as well. This cache could be the start of a trail that will take you right around the lake finding caches along the way. It is near the sculpture Lambertia formosa (Mountain Devil) by Marco Grilli You will need to take a pen with you .
If you are sensitive to prickly native plants make sure you wear gloves
Reservoirs providing water to locomotives were essential in the age of steam. Wentworth Falls Lake started life as a small reservoir to enable the steam trains to get water. Today Wentworth Falls Lake is a place for active and passive recreation that has considerable appeal for its natural vegetation and for its collection of sandstone sculptures which interpret common local plants These were created as part of the Wentworth Falls Lake Sculpture Project c.1998-1999, organised by Gabriella Hegyes and are:
Juncus usitatus (Common Rush) by Nick Dorrer Eucalyptus radiata ssp. radiata (Narrow-leaved Peppermint) by Ellan Leptospermum grandifolium (Woolly Tea-tree) by Anna Baird Gleichenia dicarpa (Pouched Coral Fern) by Mary Anderson Callistemon citrinus (Crimson Bottlebrush) by Michael Byrt Grevillea acanthifolia (Swamp Grevillea) by Vicki Skeen Patersonia sericea (Native Iris) by Robyn Austin Xanthorrhoea resinifera (Grass Tree) by Peter Baird Allocasuarina littoralis (Black She-oak) by Doris Rainsford Hakea teretifolia (Dagger Hakea) by Hugo Rojas Acacia elata (Cedar Wattle) by Alexis Apfelbaum Lambertia formosa (Mountain Devil) by Marco Grilli Banksia serrata (Old Man Banksia) by Maija Collishaw Telopea speciosissima (Waratah) by Gabriella Hegyes Isopogon anemonifolius (Drumsticks) by Sonja van As Persoonia pinifolia (Pine-leaf Geebung) by Petrina Louise Fuda
This cache is near both car park concrete path and BBQ area but is screened from all but the last car space. Busy at weekends. There are views from here that you can pretend to be looking at.. The toilet block is on the street side off Sinclair Ave below the dam wall. Kids love rolling down the grassy side of the dam wall too.
