The Mystery of the Old Man’s Letter
Several Years ago an old man lived in the woods near Saint George. He had no family and very few friends...He was a Hermit. When he was alive he sent a letter to himself (P.O. Box 1881 at the St George Post Office) and instructed the Post office staff to leave it in his mailbox until he died. After he passed away, they were very curious what was in that letter! They opened and read it, but it didn’t really seem to make much sense! They felt it likely held clues required to find the old mans treasure hidden somewhere in the woods!! The staff is asking the geocaching community for help as they felt that we might have the expertise to solve the riddles and find the treasure! So let’s see if we can make any sense of this!!

Dear whomever reads my letter,
My treasure is waiting for you in the woods, a short drive, then a walk, and you’ll have the goods. You’ll drive through a road in a tunnel you’ll see, then park and hike and there you’ll be! So set your sights on North forty five, then return to sender and soon you’ll arrive! You must add a zero in front of the digits, two then a decimal and you’ll be there in minutes.
Now you have one part so let’s find the rest...we need our Westing to complete this quest! Since it’s nearby to some degree, zero six six will start you off don’t you agree? Near the Post Office where water was pumped, there's some numbers, one's closest to the top. Take this number and subtract, thirty four to be exact. Then you’ll need a decimal place, as the coordinates you chase. Then on the front and way up high, you’ll see a date I would not lie! Then take this year, add fifty one, use the last three digits and you’re done!!!!
There is one more thing you need to know, and when it’s found you’re free to go!
On the building where this letter was found, you’ll discover this place somewhere around. At one time it opened to accept your mail, now it’s sealed shut and looks a little pale. Here on the left a word you’ll find, that is going to help you out of a bind. From four of its letters you must see, a different word to find the key. This key is hidden far away, but soon you will be on your way. So keep this leftmost word in mind, and solve this puzzle when it’s time.
Upon arrival in the woods, a code you’ll need to get the goods! Return to sender is the key I’d study that close if it was me!
Sincerely,
The Old Man
