Update February 2018 -- the area leading in to the cache from Route 790 has been clearcut. The logging road follows the old trail straight in; you can pick the trail up in the woods where the logging road now ends.
The remains of a road through the woods from Little Lepreau to the head of the basin leads to this cache. According to what I've learned from asking some people in the community, the road originally led to a Cogswell family settlement, remains of which can still be seen in the area (on the other side of the Hole, however). The road is still quite well-defined and largely clear, though now deeply rutted and mossy. Walking in from Route 790 is a moderate 20-25 minute hike and the terrain is not too difficult. The cache location can also be accessed by boat via the Basin and Black Duck Cove at high tide (time your visit with care). The cache is a camouflaged ammo container and was placed with lots of goodies for various ages, please replace as found and if you take something, leave something. The cache is 1-2 feet off the ground so may not be winter friendly if there is a lot of snow.
