Geocache Description:

The full moon (tatkresiwok - Inuit) occurs when the Sun and the Moon are opposite sides of the Earth at the same time. This lunar phase (29.53 days/cycle) is known by many different names, cultures, and religions, depending on the month it occurs. The late Fall full moon occurs in December and is known as the Oak Moon (English), Cold Moon (Algonquian), Sharad Purnima is celebrated (Hindu), and Unduvap Poya (Sinhala).

The full moon for the month of December is at its fullest at 7:48 AM on Sunday, the 3rd

Full Moon

...and the sun sets at 4:41 PM and the moon rises at 5:15 PM.

This is just about the best night to view the moon at its fullest after it rises today! Come join us for a meet-n-greet in the evening and to watch the full moon rise over the San Gabriel and San Bernardino mountains.

The event begins at 6:00 pm and the event will officially end by 8:30 PM, but there may be some lingering about into the night...

Please do bring your bugs and coins for trading, discovering, or just to show them off. Tonight's Full Moon Rising event will be at one of our traditional alternative sites, the Round Table Pizza in Claremont @ 598 E. Baseline Rd & Mills Ave.

It is interesting to note that often, calendars indicating moon phases may be off by a day when intended for use in a different time zone. Don't be late or you just might miss out on this magical time as the sun sets and the full moon rises.

Again, the event will be held at Round Table Pizza in Claremont @ 598 E. Baseline Rd. & Mills Ave., 91711.

Tonight's event will be a White Elephant Gift Exchange. Everyone who wishes to participate should bring a wrapped gift to place in the gift pile. New gifts should be in the $5 to $10 range (no higher please) or you may re-gift something you already have. The basic rules may be found at the 'related web page' link at the top of the description. We will abide by the three swaps and you and/or the gift is out rules.
