須花トンネルは3つあり、それぞれ竣工した時代から昭和・大正・明治トンネルと呼ばれています。
このトンネル開通以前は足利と佐野の交通には険しい須花峠を越えるしかありませんでした。
上彦間村の戸長、田島茂平はトンネルを掘って人々の苦労を救おうと、
下彦間村・足利町にも援助を求め、最終的には私財をなげうって明治トンネルは完成し、
地域の発展に大きく貢献しました。
その物語はたぬまの民話として、マンガにもなっています。
その後、順次大正トンネル、昭和トンネルが完成して現在の形となっています。
このジオキャッシュは昭和トンネルを観察して須花峠を歩き、
山越えをしなくて済むトンネルのありがたさを体験して実感してみるものとなっています。

・キャッシュの発見方法
このキャッシュを発見するには公開座標にあるスタート看板を観察し、
その看板の文章内にあるアラビア数字をすべて足し、小数点以下は切り捨てにします。
すると3桁の数字になりますので、百の位を◎、十の位を□、一の位を△として分解して、
以下の座標に当てはめて下さい。
N 36° 24.0△△
E 139° 29.◎□△
例えば765という3桁の数字になりましたら、◎=7、□=6、△=5となりますので、
N 36° 24.055
E 139° 29.765
という座標になります。（もちろんこれは答えではありませんぞ＞＜）
それは須花峠内に7つ存在するカーブのどれかを示していますので、
座標入力してキャッシュを見つけて下さい。
