Most inner city dwellers are all too familiar with the landscaped planted areas around high-rise buildings. These are neat, orderly, low-maintenance and homogeneous, neither displeasing nor pleasing .... and dull as dishwater. For those eager to get their hands creatively in real soil, apartment living usually means negotiations with committees etc to claw back a forgotten corner for a few herbs or cottage flowers - or a sneaky pot or two on a balcony.
There doesn't seem to be much information available about Grace O'Brien except what is written on the plaque in this tiny pocket park, a hidden gem you can drive or walk by, and miss entirely. Maybe that was its attraction for Grace O'Brien. The little park is not quite a guerrilla community garden, but there is a definite feel of serene anarchy here. A little chaos. Enjoy!
