Geocache Description:


The lovely, 11th century ruined Old Church of St Nicholas sits at the top of Uphill Hill, and is arguably one of Weston-super-Mare's most iconic landmarks.



The partially ruined church consists of a tower, chancel and a roofless nave. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building. The roofed portion is still used for services occasionally. The church is now run on selected open days by volunteers, whereby you can explore inside the bell tower and on the roof. If it is open, I do recommend going!

This is a relatively short 9-stage Wherigo, the majority of which focus on the church. Your adventure will start at the base of the hill at a sign that will tell you whether the church is open or not. From there, you will need to ascend the hill to the church, visiting various related characters, which will lead you to the cache itself, a regular sized plastic box.

 The Wherigo will take you along Uphill Hill, a biological Site of Special Scientific Interest so please make sure not to damage any wildlife, stick to footpaths and obey all signage and the attributes on the cache page. Permission has been granted for the cache to be placed where it is.


While at the church, if you haven't already, be sure to find GCHPGY Uphill, downhill. There is a stage of the Wherigo that allows you to find the cache for those that haven't.
